Kathy RigdonAncientI received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1991 from Southwest Texas State University. There I studied under Michele Conroy and Carolyn Bryce Brooks.

In 1997, I set up a studio at my home and began taking workshops to keep abreast of new innovations and techniques. I have worked under the expertise of Jake Black and Walt Glass, and taken workshops from James Watson, Randy Brodnax, Lisa Ohr, Tom and Elaine Coleman, Mark Epstein, Lana Wilson, Robin Hopper, Billy Ray Mangnum, and many others.

In the last few years, I have exhibited in many Juried Art Shows throughout the United States. My work is found in homes around the world.

BowlBowlPerhaps I am a bit different from a lot of potters. I don't try to tell a story or make a statement. I let the work speak for itself. To make it really simple, my greatest thrill is seeing a mound of clay turn into a work of beauty and to follow the process from the beginning to end. Whether it is using the wheel or various hand techniques, it never ceases to amaze me what can be created. As long as I remember that I too am an instrument used to create, beauty is formed.
